A series of arrests have been made in West Yorkshire after a large quantity of sweets distributed in the area were found to contain cannabis oil.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency identified the sweet brand as Nerds Rope and warned that although a substantial amount of the contaminated products have been seized, it is not known how much more is in circulation and how widely it has been distributed.
“It is not thought this issue extends beyond West Yorkshire but it cannot be ruled out. Therefore, we are distributing this as a precautionary measure,” the MHRA said.
The MHRA said that contaminated sweets could produce symptoms such as a loss of co-ordination, hallucinations, nausea and vomiting, lethargy, collapse or loss of consciousness and cardiovascular problems.
